The welcome evening will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 6 p.m. at the conference venue. Registered participants who have registered for the welcome evening will receive their conference documents there.
The opening ceremony will take place on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to approx. 5:30 p.m. in the large lecture hall room HS 2, Carl-Zeiss-Straße 3 on the campus of the University of Jena.
The company exhibition will begin on Monday, March 11, 2024 following the opening event from around 6:00 pm. In a 30-minute "Company Slam" at the end of the opening event, the exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves on a slide.
Following the presentation, the exhibition will be opened with snacks and drinks.
The student evening will take place on Monday, 11 March 2024 from approx. 20:00 and is organized by the local students and supported as usual by the DGG. To participate in the student evening, a separate registration is required at the registration desk.
The traditional DGG social evening will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 6:30 pm (admission from 6:00 pm) at the Planetarium Jena (Am Planetarium 5, 07743 Jena).
Dinner is included in the price for the social evening (60€ p.p./ 35€ for students).
A separate registration is required to attend the social evening. The number of participants is limited to 200. Experience has shown that there are no remaining tickets.
The "Meet & Greet" breakfast for female scientists will take place for the eighth time this year.
The aim of the event is to offer a platform for mutual exchange. Students and young scientists will have the opportunity to meet experienced geophysicists and get to know different career paths in a personal conversation.
The breakfast will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 8:00 to 9:30am. Separate registration is required for participation. The number of participants is limited to 50 (cost: €10 per person).
The public evening lecture of the DGG will be held by Prof. Dr. Torsten Dahm (GFZ Potsdam) and take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 20:00 - 21:00 in HS2, Carl-Zeiss-Straße 3.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 13:00 - 14:00, the "Career Perspectives Lunch Seminar" will take place for the fifth time. Geophysicists will present examples of their professional careers in the field of geophysics and will be available to answer questions. Participation is limited to 30 people. (Cost: 10€ per person). Registration is required at the registration desk.
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, a Lunch'n Learn will take place from 13:00 - 14:00. The aim of this event with keynote speeches and lunch is to network young geoscientists in order to promote exchange on both a professional and personal level.
Participation is limited to 30 people. (Cost: 10€ per person).
Registration is required at the registration desk.
The working groups and committees of the DGG have the opportunity to meet during the annual conference. Seminar rooms will be made available for this purpose.
Those responsible are requested to register their requirements with Valentin Kasburg (dgg2024@uni-jena.de) by 21.12.2023, stating the date, the expected number of people and, if applicable, technical equipment.

At the DVGeo Townhall Meeting, active members of the association will be able to ask questions, make suggestions and discuss their activities over a light lunch.
Topics may include, for example: Geosciences in schools, the future of geosocieties, representation in politics.

The German Geophysical Society and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists are conducting a joint workshop on Alternative Energy Use and Subsurface Storage - heat, hydrogen, and compressed air
at the German Geophysical Society’s annual meeting in Jena, Germany on 15 March 2024 as a post-convention workshop. Given the current challenges in the field of energy supply and climate change,
it is crucial to research alternative energy sources and find innovative solutions for a sustainable energy supply.
The DGG/SEG workshop will focus on geophysical methods and applications for the exploration and development of alternative energy sources, from geothermal, hydrogen, nuclear, and compressed air.
Papers on case studies and recent developments are welcomed.
The closing event with award ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 15:00-16:00 in the lecture hall HS 2. The best posters and presentations by young first authors will be awarded prizes at this event.
The general assembly will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 17:00-19:00 in lecture hall HS 2.
